The former church of Convento do Beato, in Lisbon, was converted into a space for events, after an investment of six million euros, the company Lafra Properties announced in a statement.
“Lisbon now has a new cultural and artistic reference with the opening of The Chapel, a space that was born from the conversion of the old Convento do Beato Church, the result of an investment of six million euros that is part of the rehabilitation plan started three years ago”reads the same note.
This project, designed by the architecture studio Risco, has the capacity to “receiving up to 500 people and a total area of around 1,400 m², respects the architectural heritage of the building, transforming it into a venue [espaço] designed for conferences, meetings, brand activations, workshops and corporate lunches”he emphasized.
According to the same note, “the space debuts as a stage of international relevance with the opening night of the Tribeca Festival Lisboa 2025, scheduled for October 29th, where the world premiere of the feature film In the Hand of Dante, directed by Julian Schnabel, will take place”.
The space is “an integral part of the Beato Quarter, an urban regeneration project with a global investment of more than 70 million euros, which covers 10 historic buildings, including the Convento do Beato, the old church and several industrial buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries”, he explained, adding that “in total, there are more than 18,000 m² of intervention, of which 8,500 m² are destined for housing and 3,500 m² for courtyards landscaped”.
Beato Quarter is promoted by Larfa Properties, which is already preparing the second phase of the project, scheduled to begin by the end of the year.
