What Is It About Fall That Makes Me So Happy?
Is it the weather?
Is it the cool, crisp days when the sky is so clear and so blue, and the temperatures are so perfect? The kind of weather when a light sweater or jacket wraps you in perfect comfort. Time outdoors in the fall brings such joy.
Is it the smell?
Have you ever noticed the smell as you hike through the woods on an autumn day after the leaves have started turning and you just take a deep breath in? Or maybe it’s the smell of fall treats. The smell of hot apple cider on a cool evening, the caramel apples at the orchard, a campfire on a cold night, or a fresh batch of pumpkin bread from the oven. The smells of fall bring such joy.
Or is it the ambiance & celebrations of the season?
Is it the pumpkin patches, corn mazes, Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays… these seasonal treasures of community, family, and fun? These moments bring such joy.
Hopefully, I’ve got you longing for fall pleasures. That was my intention. The City of Fishers hosts several opportunities to get involved in all the joys that fall brings. You can find a complete list of our fall festivities here. We do hope you will find the time to join us.
Pumpkin Carving on the Central Green
October 26 is National Pumpkin Day – there is a holiday for everything! But let’s be honest, a holiday that celebrates all things pumpkin is awesome (I am the biggest pumpkin fan in the world and will eat pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pie, pumpkin butter, pumpkin anything until I can no longer stand).
On Tuesday, October 26 from 4 to 7 p.m., we will be carving pumpkins on the Central Green. We invite you to join us for this free event. We will supply the tools and pumpkins and you can supply the creativity. We will use the pumpkins to help us decorate for Boo Bash. Learn more.
Boo Bash
On Saturday, October 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., join us for our annual Halloween celebration around the Municipal Complex. You can learn more at playfishers.com/BooBash.
5 Amazing Things to Enjoy at Boo Bash
1.) Inflatable Corn Maze
There is more than corn in Indiana, but we still have lots of corn. And what is more a“maze”ing than a corn maze? See if you can find your way through!
2.) Pumpkin Trail
Walk the pumpkin trail and enjoy the community carved jack-o’-lanterns complete with fall scenery and several wonderful photo opportunities for you and your family.
3.) Trick or Treat
We will have many vendors offering games, activities, and treats. Vendors will have decorated and themed booths and several vendors will also provide non-food items as a part of the Teal Pumpkin Project. Finally, some of our vendors are supplying us with extra special treats that we will give away.
4.) Music & Performances
A DJ will bring ambiance with themed music and sounds from the stage. On occasion, we will have performances to entertain the crowd.
5.) Dress Up
Be sure to sport your fantastic Halloween costume for this event so that all of us can enjoy your holiday spirit.
