Shopping small businesses is one of my passions. I love knowing where I shop will make an impact locally. Also, I love the special feeling of community when walking into a store and knowing the owner or employees and being greeted by name. It gives a small town feel to this bustling city.
When I was given the task of selecting my top favorites it was a bit daunting because there are so many wonderful small businesses here in Fishers. Whether you’re looking for a coffeehouse, boutique, an activity, or restaurant there are so many amazing options just around the corner. Here are my top five small businesses around Fishers that I hope you try.
1. Roman & Leo
Location | 8800 North Street #115. Fishers
Hours: Sunday – Monday: closed; Tuesday- Friday 10am – 5pm; Saturday 10am – 2pm
Calling all fellow boy moms! Located in the heart of Nickel Plate District in Fishers, is Roman & Leo, a boutique just for boys. Sometimes finding cute boy clothes can be hard but thanks to Roman and Leo they make it so easy. We love Roman and Leo for all their cute, trendy, and unique boys clothing and accessories. I especially love their Indiana pride section, this area is perfect for baby gifts or just for Indiana fun! With social distancing, if you’re not quite ready to venture into stores Roman and Leo has two great options for you. They can ship your purchases to your home or you can choose curbside pick up.
2. Schoolhouse 7 Cafe
Location | 12125 Cyntheanne Rd. Fishers
Hours: Monday – Friday : 7am – 5pm; Saturday & Sunday: 8am – 4pm
Schoolhouse 7 Cafe is housed in a beautifully restored 1900 one-room schoolhouse with an atmosphere that embraces the past and present of Fishers. With a full menu of homemade food and deliciously crafted drinks there is something for everyone! Whether it be story-time with your littles, a place to meet friends, a quiet place to enjoy a coffee and book, or a Saturday family morning breakfast; there’s always something good brewing at Schoolhouse 7 Cafe!
3. Wasson Nursery
Location | 13279 E 126th St, Fishers
Hours: Monday – Saturday: 9am – 6pm; Sunday: 10am – 5pm
I love Wasson’s Nursery to buy plants for my gardens or just a walk through for inspiration. Wasson’s has so many beautiful options. A favorite part of this nursery is that they support other small businesses by selling local growers products. With a smile as you enter there’s always an employee willing to help or provide advice. Fall is one of my favorite times of year. Fall at Wasson’s is simply magical and a must visit for my family. With social distancing, if you’re not quite ready to venture into stores you can also order online and do curbside pickup.
4. State of Grace
Location | 11679 Olio Rd, Fishers, IN 46037
Hours: Monday – Saturday: 11am – 6pm; Sunday: 12pm – 4pm
State Of Grace is a cute little gem with many great options from clothes, jewelry, shoes, to home decor. What I love most about this boutique is that their biggest priority is uplifting women and the community with a slogan of women supporting women. Whether its a girls afternoon shopping with friends or a quick stop in with kids in tow (they have a super cute kids area to play while you shop) Upon entering you are greeted by State Of Grace’s sophisticated laid back atmosphere welcoming to all. Whether you’re looking for styles for work, church, or just fun there’s something for everyone!

5. CR Heroes
Location | 10570 E 96th St Fishers, IN 46037
Hours: Mondays: closed; Tuesday-Thursday 11am-10pm; Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm; Sunday 11am-9pm
“Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. And they’re always glad you came…” When I think of CR Heroes this phrase comes to mind. I’m a long-time patron and have always loved the atmosphere. With a welcoming hello and smile you feel like you’re stepping into a small town restaurant though you’re still in the city. A fun part of dining at CR Heroes is how they incorporate heroes of all sorts into the restaurant’s decor. I always love watching the look of awe on my kids’ faces as they take in all the decorations. My kids’ favorite days to visit CR Heroes are Tuesdays and Wednesdays for kids eat free (balloon artist & face painting) and free cookie day! With a full delicious menu and a fun atmosphere you can’t go wrong when dining at CR Heroes.
