Q&A with Marta Lazdins, Owner
Q: Why did you start your business?
A: “My grandparents immigrated from Europe to Uruguay. They became good at preserving food due to the hard winters in Europe. Many of my recipes are from my grandparents.”
Q: What products do you sell and what is your most popular product?
A: “I sell jams, jellies, and syrups. My most popular is the mixed berries and the peach flavor. I also have spicy jellies: peach habanero, pineapple habanero, and pepper jellies.”
Q: What is an interesting fact about your business?
A: “Many of the recipes are my grandparents’ recipes.”
Q: What is your favorite part of the Farmers’ Market?
A: “I like the people and sharing with my customers about where I’m from and the history of the business. I especially enjoy the summer market because I love being outdoors and with so many other wonderful vendors. We all help each other out, and it feels like family.”
Q: What else do you want customers to know about your business?
A: “We use only the best ingredients, and we make small batches of our products so that they always produce great quality.”
About the Fishers Fall Farmers Market
The Fishers Fall Farmers Market is an online-only market comprised of local vendors. Ordering opens each Saturday at 9 a.m. and closes at noon each Wednesday for delivery to your door every Friday. The fall market will run through Dec. 18, and orders can be placed at fishersfarmersmarket.localfoodmarketplace.com.
Sadie Hunter started as a marketing assistant with Fishers Parks in February. Her favorite thing to do in Fishers is creek stomp at Brooks School Park with her two sons, Ben and Henry, and dog, Maggie. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, pottery, and kayaking with her husband, Zach.
