Happy 150th Birthday, Fishers!
The City of Fishers is excited to announce their Sesquicentennial Year celebration, marking Fishers’ 150th birthday. This summer through June 2023, the city will celebrate the founding of Fishers in 1872, then called Fishers Switch, by showcasing what it means to be uniquely Fishers.
The 150th anniversary celebration includes an interactive Sesquicentennial Trail with special passport at notable destinations around the city, community time capsule, podcast series, photo archiving and more. Learn more at thisisfishers.com/Fishers150.
Fishers Sesquicentennial Trail
Take a self-guided tour of Fishers’ history, culture, and community favorites on the Fishers Sesquicentennial Trail! Now through June 2023, pick up a trail passport from various locations around the city and begin checking off destinations as you explore.
From historic sites such as the Ambassador House and Conner Prairie, to local businesses celebrating with Sesquicentennial specials and menu items, the trail is the perfect way to celebrate what it means to be uniquely Fishers.

City Hall Construction
The City of Fishers closes Fishers City Hall (1 Municipal Drive) today, Monday, August 1 in preparation for the construction of the new arts center and city hall, set to open in spring 2024.
The City Services Building (3 Municipal Drive) will continue to serve as a one-stop-shop for residents who need to conduct business with the City such as court and utility payments, zoning assistance, and public bids. The City Services Building will also take over existing functions of City Hall, including housing City mailboxes and the main information desk. The building is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.
AgriPark Composting
Fishers Parks is now offering a FREE composting program to Fishers residents, who can pick up a 3-gallon composting bin with 10 compostable liners at any of the following locations during hours of operation:

Registration Open for City Government Academy and Mayor’s Youth Academy
City Government Academy
Registration for the Fall 2022 session of the award-winning Fishers City Government Academy (CGA) is now open and closes on Friday, September 2nd. The session will kick off on Tuesday, September 6th and will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings. The academy is free and open to Fishers residents who are 18 and older. CGA allows residents of Fishers to examine the inner workings of city government by allowing participants to hear from staff, tour city facilities, and engage in the collaborative city governing process. At the end of the course, participants will have a greater understanding of how Fishers government works. To enroll in the academy, please fill out the following application. Mayor’s Youth Academy
In partnership with Hamilton Southeastern Schools and the Eman Schools, the Mayor’s Youth Academy offers the opportunity to build community awareness, provide hands-on learning opportunities, and inspire future careers in the public sector. Registration is now open for the 2022-2023 school year. Applications are due Friday, September 9. High school juniors and seniors that attend school in Fishers with a GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible for the program. Make48 Challenge
The Maker Playground was recently unveiled as the host for the national Make48 competition. The celebrated PBS docuseries brings its 48-hour collaborative inventor and maker challenge to Fishers on September 9-11. Registration is now open to teams nationwide and competitors can participate in the unique maker competition. The winning team will win $2k and advance to compete at the national competition in March 2023, where one team can win $10k. This year’s challenge theme is Food Preservation & The Supply Chain – Food at the Right Place at the Right Time, as determined by United Way of Central Indiana. The event is sponsored by Corteva Agriscience. Teams can register at fishersmpg.com.
FFD Cul-de-sac Drills
Fishers Firefighters are performing firefighting drills in various neighborhoods this summer. Crews will put hose on the ground, spray some water and be available to speak with those in the neighborhood about what we do and the equipment we use. This is a great opportunity to meet and see up close, the community’s firefighters and the work they are prepared for. The drills will start at 7pm and will last about an hour. August’s schedule includes:

Fishers Health Department’s Walk About Health
Join Fishers Health Department, Community Health Network, and Fishers Parks for July’s Walk About Health monthly series with health specialists at parks across the city. Fishers Farmers Market
The Fishers Farmers Market, presented by IU Health Fishers, is back every Saturday at the NPD AMP from 8 a.m. to noon. The market showcases vendors from Central Indiana that offer fresh produce, baked goods, honey, specialty food items, meats, coffee, plants, and more.

Blues Fest
End the summer with the 10th annual Fishers Blues Fest, a Labor Day tradition! The free, two-night event takes place Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 and includes performances by renowned local and national blues artists, presented by IU Health Fishers. Kara Hall is the Marketing and PR Manager for the City of Fishers and has been with the department since 2017. Her favorite thing to do in Fishers is checking out the local restaurants and boutiques around town and taking walks with her daughter, dog, and husband at parks #AroundFishers. Her other hobbies include listening to podcasts, watching true crime documentaries, going to concerts, reading, and cheering on the Colts on Sundays. She loves that Fishers is always changing and is constantly looking for ways to create vibrancy within the community.
