Tell us a little about yourself.

I am originally from Union Mills, a small town in northwest Indiana. I attended Purdue University for my undergraduate degree in Aquatic Science and received my master’s degree in Environmental Science from Indiana University. I’m an environmental scientist at Acuity Environmental Solutions in Fishers, an environmental engineering company that cleans up properties contaminated with hazardous waste.

I’ve been a Fishers resident since 2007 and have seen the city grow in so many ways. We are raising our three boys here, Lincoln, Hudson, and Jackson, and you can often find us out and about in the city enjoying the many events and happenings around Fishers. It’s really important to me that we develop these meaningful traditions and memories for our boys, so that when they grow up with their own families, they think back fondly on Fishers and their time growing up here.

What is your favorite thing about Fishers?

My favorite thing about Fishers is our vibrant and robust parks system – we have so many parks with so many fun, family-friendly amenities. There is truly something for everyone! From hiking the trails at Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve to sledding at Flat Fork Creek Park, my family and I try to get out and play as much as possible.

Do you have a favorite Fishers event?

I have a few favorite events that Fishers Parks puts on. My family and I love the Fishers Farmers’ Market – you can often find us there on Saturday mornings in the summer, shopping local and supporting the local vendors. I also really enjoy the Fall Festival at the Fishers AgriPark, which was a new event last year that was really fun! I also have to mention Boo Bash, which is a Halloween tradition for my family. Our boys always get a kick out of seeing their dad dressed up in his Halloween costume at the mayor’s booth each year.

Are there any causes that you are passionate about?

There are so many great organizations and nonprofits in Fishers and Hamilton County! One organization that I’m passionate about is the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County. My family and I love to volunteer with them, and they do such meaningful work assisting the underserved and at-risk individuals and families within Hamilton County. You can learn more about them at gsnlive.org.
