As the Nickel Plate Trail grows closer to completion, so do the opportunities to get out and about around Fishers.

Blazing The Trail Mural
Artist Becky Hochhalter was commissioned for the mural on the side of the Fishers Police Department parking garage, which was unveiled July 14 in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Nickel Plate Trail alongside the mural.
The mural features plenty of local landmarks, including the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater, an homage to local breweries, and a tribute to fallen Fishers K9 Officer Harlej.
Hochhalter included 15 butterflies hidden throughout the mural. Stop by and see how many you can find, and share using #AroundFishers.
116th Street Tunnel
The tunnel for the Nickel Plate Trail under 116th Street is a great place to relax and enjoy downtown Fishers and the trail. With the completion of the tunnel, walkers, runners, and bikers can travel from 106th Street to 146th Street.
Nickel Plate District
The Nickel Plate District is a great area to stop along the trail. You can enjoy events at the Municipal Complex like the Fishers Farmers’ Market, concerts at the NPD Amphitheatre, and shop at local businesses.
Nearby is Four Day Ray Brewing, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, Greek’s Pizzeria, and more shops and restaurants to enjoy in the Nickel Plate District. Soon you’ll be able to cut through traffic and take your bike, walk, or run into downtown to enjoy the NPD.

Fishers Maker Playground
Just off the Nickel Plate Trail near 106th Street is Fishers Parks’ Maker Playground. The playground includes a woodshop, metal shop, CNC machine, 3D Printer, computers, tools, and supplies to cut, form, and create

Fishers YMCA
Near 121st Street, you can hop off the trail to enjoy the Fishers YMCA, where swimming pools, splash pads, gyms, and more await. Weekly classes and more can be found on their website.
Al-Huda
The largest Islamic congregation in Indiana meets right here in Fishers, and just off the Nickel Plate Trail. The Al-Huda Foundation recently completed Al Huda Masjid, an $8.8 million mosque complete with breathtaking artwork and state-of-the-art facilities.
The Foundation is active in creating interfaith events with an inviting and welcoming atmosphere for all people. Activation points along the trail near Al-Huda will be a great place to rest and enjoy all the trail has to offer when completed.
