After spending a lot more time at home the past few years due to the pandemic, our pets have gotten used to having us around, and we’ve gotten pretty used to having them around, too. This change in routine has made it even harder to leave them alone (okay, fine, it’s probably harder on me than it is on them.) Either way, it got me wondering why I would leave my four-legged best friends at home when I can just take them with me!
I was so surprised how many different places we were able to go on a recent doggy’s day out that I put together this Dog-Friendly Fishers Guide highlighting some of my favorite spots. So grab the leash, pack some potty bags, and get ready to hit the town!
Sun King Fishers
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of “dog-friendly” in the summertime is a great patio. There are a ton of restaurants that allow well-behaved leashed pets on their patios, and Sun King Fishers is one of my favorites! Sun King’s Fishers location is a family-friendly tasting room and restaurant that opened last year in the Fishers District area. They offer a full selection of Sun King beer and spirits, as well as a variety of restaurant options to order food from at the Fishers Test Kitchen.
Our dogs, Luke and Leia, loved hanging out under their picnic table enjoying the shade and cleaning up the crumbs we ended up dropping during our recent visit. The hostess even brought out a big bowl of ice water for them!
Parks & Trails
Nothing beats the look on Luke and Leia’s faces when we say the words “Do you want to go to the park?” or “Do you want to go on a walk?” They get so excited every time! There are a ton of great parks and trails in Fishers to take your four-legged friends. We recently stopped by Central Green for a quick walk around the Nickel Plate District and couldn’t get over how beautiful it was!

To find trails in the area, I recommend downloading the AllTrails app where you can search using location/dog-friendly filters.
PetPeople
Visiting Pet Supplies Stores was one of our favorite ways to socialize our dogs when they were puppies! We took them in for leash practice while we shopped, training classes, and to pick out a new toy (or two) if they did a good job.
We stopped in the PetPeople store at Fishers District during our recent doggy’s-day-out for some treats, and the staff loved Luke and Leia! They even had them do some tricks and gave them treats. We will definitely be back there next time we need a refill on something.
Four Day Ray Brewing
Another one of my favorite pet-friendly patios in Fishers is at Four Day Ray Brewing. Not only do they have fantastic beer, but their food menu is delicious too! Four Day Ray has been one of my all-time favorite spots since they first opened a few years ago. I highly recommend trying their Blood Orange Blonde and the tenderloin.
Their restaurant is kid-friendly, and the beer garden is dog-friendly. Their beer garden gets plenty of shade, which is perfect for you and your pup on those warm summer days!
Nicey Treat
After we finished shopping at PetPeople we headed over to Nicey Treat. I went inside to pick some up while my husband waited outside with our pups. Fishers District has a great grassy area complete with yard games, chairs, and even a jumbo chess set. We sat here while we enjoyed some peanut butter popsicles (or pupsicles in our case).
Fishers Farmers’ Market
The Fishers Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from May through September and features a variety of local producers, makers, and growers. It’s marked as one of the top farmers’ markets in the region, and also one of the top dog-friendly events in Fishers! Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you while you shop, and you can read their full pet policy here.
Don’t have a pup yet and want to join in on all the dog-friendly fun?
No problem! I know of just the place. The Hamilton County Humane Society’s brand new state-of-the-art facility is located in Fishers. Check out their website for more information on adopting, or visit the shelter to meet the animals. I hope to see you and your new fur-iend out and about in Fishers soon!
Sierra Sieracki has been a Fishers resident for nearly 20 years and currently lives in the Geist area. She is a food, drink, and travel blogger and loves to travel and check out the best local spots. You can find her around Fishers checking out all the new breweries, bars, and restaurants that have opened in recent years with her husband and two dogs named Luke and Leia. She loved growing up here and going to school here, and she really enjoys watching how much it has grown into the city it is today. Follow her on Instagram, Facebook, and check out her website.
