On a drizzly summer afternoon, Think Fishers escaped the rain inside the sophisticated interior of Thai Kitchen Restaurant, with a pot of jasmine tea and a bowl of red curry. The lunchtime hotspot was bustling, but the subdued jazz music kept the atmosphere calm and low key.
Thai Kitchen has been serving authentic Thai cuisine since the restaurant opened in November 2010. Owner Saowalux Fary says all the menu items are family recipes. Her personal favorite? The Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). The dish features rice noodles stir fried in a spicy sauce with egg, mushrooms, green beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions, and basil.
The expansive menu caters to the visitor, allowing you to pick your choice of chicken, beef, pork, tofu, vegetables, shrimp, squid, or mixed seafood for your entrée. You can also select the desired level of spiciness for your dish, ranging from mild to Thai hot. Entrées range from Hawaiian Fried Rice (served in a pineapple, no less!) to Volcano Chicken to Pottery Shrimp (baked in a clay pot), and everything between. There are also appetizer, soup, salad, noodle, rice, and curry options (mango, anyone?) for every palate. Drink options include various hot and iced teas, coffee, juices, soft drinks, beer, and an impressive selection of wine.
The restaurant offers an $8.99 lunch special on weekdays, served with your choice of a generously portioned entrée, a spring roll, cup of soup, and a small salad. The most popular menu items include Pad Thai (rice noodles cooked in a homemade tamarind sauce, stir fired with bean sprouts, green onions, egg, and peanuts) and Bangkok Seafood (shrimp, squid, scallops, and mussels in a spicy chili sauce with bell peppers, carrots, onions, and basil leaves). Think Fishers also speaks highly of the red curry, served with your choice of meat, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, green beans, and basil leaves.
On Yelp, Fishers residents sing Thai Kitchen’s praises, with comments such as, “my favorite Thai restaurant in the Indy area” (Carlos C.), “every dish we have had has been fresh and tasty” (Angie M.), and “I was blown away by the ambience, food, service, and value!” (John C.).
Perfect for a quick lunch, date night, or just a pot of tea on a rainy day, Thai Kitchen brings a taste of Thailand to west Fishers.
