Amira Ali is working to bring the diverse communities of Fishers together. Ali is a founding member and vice president of the Fishers Multi-Faith Community for Compassion (FMCC).

FMCC is a local nonprofit organization that works to provide opportunities to learn about our neighbors, build true relationships, and make a difference. Ali’s involvement provides her the opportunity to work with neighbors from diverse backgrounds.

Regarding her multi-faith work, Ali shared, “I am so happy that now I know so many people. They all seem like a family to me now. It brings everyone from different backgrounds to the same table.”

In addition to her involvement with FMCC, Ali also works with her local Mosque, The Al Huda Foundation, by arranging volunteers from her community to help with food banks, blood drives, and city events. She is also involved in the Al Huda Women’s Education Committee, which educates women about their physical and mental health as well as other social and civic engagements.

Ali grew up in Pakistan, a country in Southeast Asia. She and her husband, both physicians, moved to the United States to further their medical career on the East Coast. In an effort to escape the “fast paced” life out east, the couple moved to Fishers with their three sons in 2006.

Ali and her husband, Dr. Muhammad Munir, own Harmony Medical Associates, a psychiatry practice in Fishers. Ali oversees and manages their busy practice while her husband, a practicing psychiatrist physician, sees child, adolescent, and adult populations. He is uniquely board certified for both Child & Adolescents and Adult Psychiatry.

When reflecting on their time in Fishers, Ali said, “14 years down the road, we are still in love with this place. It has been such a blessed time raising our boys here. It is a wonderful place to breath and enjoy watching them grow.”

Q&A

NEIGHBORHOOD: Meadow Brook Village

FAVORITE LOCAL RESTAURANT: “I am a real foodie. I love all different types of foods. It is so hard to choose. I would have to say Bombay Bazaar Market is one of my favorites. The chef is from Pakistan and serves authentic Pakistani foods. We also love Tijuana Flats.”

FAVORITE FISHERS PARK: “Hands down Holland Park. We have had countless play dates, picnics, and soccer tournaments there. I still go there for my daily walks.”

FAVORITE LOCAL BUSINESS: “I do love small businesses. Fishers has so many of them. Especially when you go to a small business, you tend to get to know everybody there. It is more of a family affair. If I had to choose, I would say the Fishers Farmers’ Market.”

FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND A SATURDAY: “If it is a beautiful day, I am a walker, I have to walk every day. I would go for a long walk and attend my children’s extracurricular activities. Mostly, be with family.”
